I still dont understand how he could have this child out there and not have any sort of contact with her. My mom has forgiven my dad and asked that we (children) do the same. It's a weird situation that no one talks about. My dad has no relationship with the secret love child. My youngest brother told me (our dad told him that when he met our my mother our oldest brother was already 2). Actually, my mom doesnt even know that I know. Does your older brother know he has a different Dad? Does your Dad now have a relationship with the secret love child? My great-grandmother had some sort of illness the last several years of her life so mellowed out. Her mother re-married and lived until my grandmother was about 15. The new husband did the math and beat her & the child on a regular basis until he accidentaly died cleaning his gun in front of his wife 4 years later. The girl got married and had a child 5 months later. She had her 3rd daughter work as a "maid" for older men from about 11-15 years old. Her other two daughters (she was pregnant with my grandmother when she arrived) said she she just wasn't a nice person. I don't know why this has hit me - if I had any money to my name, I'd hire someone to research this. Though back then 13 was still young, but not that young. I wonder if your great grandmother thought at least they'd be together. She sold her oldest two daughters, 11 & 13 into one marriage when she arrived and no one from the family ever heard or saw from them again.
